2 Months

Deacon turned 2 months old last Tuesday. These past 2 months have gone so fast but it seems like he's been in our lives forever. He continues to amaze us everyday and our love for him is indescribable. We are so lucky that he is ours!!

Ok- enough gushing :) Deacon had his 2 month appointment today and he's growing like a weed. Still in the 75th percentile for weight (13.6lbs) and the 90th percentile for height (24.6 inches wow!!). His head also continues to be in the 75th percentile. Dr. Chung says he looks like a very healthy and happy little boy so we must be doing something right! I was DREADING this appointment because of his vaccines but he was a champ!! He got one in each leg for a total of 4 vaccines. He screamed briefly but was ok once I picked him up. He took a nice long nap when we got home and has been fine ever since, evident in the video below.

Deacon also had a great visit with his Aunt Mary this weekend. We did some outlet shopping, hung out and played a ton. Unfortunately the Yankee game was rained out but we got some great pictures of the two of them in their Yankee gear anyway. Aunt Mary turned Deacon around in his play mat so he can play at a different angle. He LOVES this new angle and will play on his mat for an hour! He is quite smitten with his Aunt!

Here's a video of Deacon singing (PLEASE disregard my singing!!). He's been talking to us a ton this week and I've been trying to get it on video forever. Every time I bring out the camera he clams up so we figured out a way to get him singing and talking on film...enjoy :)

Let's play a game!

Deacon's 2 month appointment is on Monday. As always, he will be getting weighed and measured. It's your turn to guess how tall and heavy Deacon is!! Leave your guess in the comments section. Closest guess get's a great prize- exact guess get's an even better prize :) Good luck!

Hints:
At his 1 month appointment, Deacon weighed 11lbs, 1oz and was 22.25 inches

This is a recent (10/2) picture of our little chunker :)

Welcoming the Newest Fan

I would like to welcome my son as the newest fan of Packer nation. Like me, I am sure he will look forward to watching the Green and Gold every Sunday. I feel fortunate to share these times with him as well as stories and legacies of past Packer greats and games. Nothing beats a game on the Frozen Tundra of Lambeau come winter. There are many years ahead, and Cheeseheads everywhere are lucky to have this little boy as a fan. Packers Packers Packers!

Odds and Ends

Sorry for the lack of updates! Deacon just finished a great visit with his Mimi. Unfortunately, he was REALLY crabby one of the days and Mimi didn't get to spend a lot of time with him but made up for it the next day. I think she really enjoyed meeting her newest grandson! Next up, Aunt Mary :)

Deacon's getting bigger and bigger everyday. I have a bin FULL of clothes he's grown out of already. Most of them are newborn sizes but there are some three months in there.... seriously?! He's not even two months yet and he can't fit into 3 month clothes?? This kid is a beast! I got his halloween costume at Carter's a few weeks ago but got him a 3 month size...i think I may need to take it back and get the next size up...

Deacon is still doing awesome sleeping at night. Generally he sleeps from about 9-3 then back asleep until 730 or so. Last night he decided to let us sleep and slept from 915 - 5- woo hoo!!!!

Not much going on this week. I've got my flu shot tomorrow (yikes!) and am taking Deacon up to my work so he can meet everyone- hopefully he's in a good mood! Aaaand court on Thursday...what kind of cop gives a 9 month pregnant lady a speeding ticket?? Hopefully one that doesn't show up for court :)

I'll leave you with some pictures because, let's be honest, that's what you really come here for!

Trying SO hard to watch TV :)

They Call It Love

Hey, this is Kevin, guest writing again on Deacon's blog. It is amazing to me that our boy is already 6 weeks old. While that seems like a long time, in actuality it is not. In terms of the growth of love, it is exponential. Each day that passes I am amazed at how much I love Deacon even more from the day preceding. I also recognize the love Deacon has for me in return as you can see it on his face when I read to him, hold him, play horsey. Basically being his father.

Despite the love and bond Deacon and I share, there is nothing like the love between a mother and son. I love both my parents with all my heart, but there is a special bond between a mother and her young son, I remember it with my mother, and Deacon and Brittney experience it now. Brittney has always had great maternal instincts and it has transcended into her ability to be a great mother to Deacon. Brittney is so amazing with Deacon and loves him with all her heart. Deacon also recognizes the love Brittney has for him and how good she is at taking care of him. Deacon is captivated by his mother, staring at her lovingly with every waking moment, and looking for her when he hears her voice but she is not in eyesight. Deacon is blessed to have loving parents, family and friends. But nothing will supercede the love and bond his mother and him share, and I could not be happier.

Rolling Over!

Here is a video of him trying to roll over but not quite getting there. Please note the amazing head control...that's right, my son's a rockstar :)

Deacon rolled over from his belly to his back for the first time when he was about 3.5 weeks old. He did it once then and not again until yesterday when he rolled over twice (6 weeks). We had been trying to get him to roll over on film forever and I finally got it today...yay!!
